Hello, my name is Jeff Berry. I have been an avid hog hunter and dog breeder for 15 years. There are hundreds of different breeds of dogs and just about as many ways of hunting. I have crossed Leopard Cur, Black Mouth Cur, and Plott. Usually no more than 1/8 to 1/4 Plott. Anymore than that and you might run into dogs that will be open on track. I don't want a dog that is close ranging and up under my feet the whole hunt. I prefer a dog that will cast out far enough so I don't have to bust alot of brush. Usually staying gone 30 minutes or so before checking back in. These dogs have a little more range than alot of your full Curs, but not quit as much as a full Hound. Also my bloodline is silent on track but bay like hell when they are looking at a hog. They won't bay as close as say a Catahoula. Rather they will leave themselves enough room to escape a charging boar in thick cover. I have very few dogs get any major cuts and even less get killed. But they will stop any running hog and catch when the Pittbulls catch. And They will stay all day if necessary. The opinions I express are not meant to brag or talk bad about other breeds or hunters. These are just the dogs that I have always bred and they work for me. If what you use works don't change. But if you would like to try one of my dogs here are a few pictures.
